Lea tells

From the idea to the puralpina Mother's Day gift

In this blog, Lea takes you into her everyday apprenticeship and tells us how she gained insights into marketing, learned new things as part of an inter-company course project, and how a new gift set was created in the process.

My name is Lea Däpp

A little about me: My name is Lea and I am a second-year commercial apprentice at puralpina. While I primarily handle administrative tasks, I also get to help out in production, shipping, or the shop from time to time. Additionally, I gain insights into other areas such as HR, accounting, markets/fairs, and marketing. It's precisely this versatility that makes my apprenticeship so exciting for me. I truly enjoy working at puralpina.

My ICA project

In addition to my days at the company and vocational school, my apprenticeship also includes inter-company courses – or ICA for short. There, we learn to implement practical, operational tasks.
Some time ago, we were commissioned to develop our own project that would bring concrete benefits to the company. I chose the topic of "Content Development," a topic from the marketing field. Since I had little experience in this area so far, it was the perfect opportunity to learn new things.

My goal with this project

With this project, I want to increase awareness of certain products by offering them in a thoughtfully curated set. To ensure this set sells well, I am writing a newsletter for our customers and a blog where I will introduce my project.

Easier said than done, but the journey was more exciting than expected.

My Journey – a Detour to the Finished Set

Gaining an overview

To get an overview of the tasks involved in the project, I created a project plan at the beginning. This way, I always knew which tasks I had already completed and which were still pending.

First, I analyzed the target groups. I considered which people I wanted to reach with this set. Then, I put together two suitable sets and presented them to my boss: an athlete set and a relaxation set. However, an even better idea came to mind: a small deodorant travel set. This includes a small 15ml deodorant cream and a deodorant stick – perfect for taking on trips.

Great enthusiasm – great effort – unfortunately no success for my project.

When it came to the packaging, we discovered that the delivery time for this packaging was longer than the time I had for this project. So, it was back to square one – analyzing target groups and determining products for the set. After much deliberation, I finally decided on the following products: Marmotte Massage Oil, Heidi Natural Soap, and Arolla Pine Room Diffuser.

Why exactly these products?

Of course, I also had to consider when this set would be released and when I would write the newsletter for it. I thought about what my set would go well with, and then I realized that Mother's Day was coming up soon and that would be the perfect opportunity to launch my set, as it is very fitting.

Motherhood is beautiful – but sometimes also exhausting.

I'm not writing this from a mother's perspective, but from a daughter's. My siblings and I see how exhausting it can sometimes be for our mom. With this set, I want to give my mom and all other moms a break from everyday life.

This is how my set is put together

Peace of the Alps

Marmot Massage Oil relaxes and soothes muscles and joints. It is ideal for wellness massages. The orange scent is relaxing and perfect for a short break – away from everyday life.

Natural Soap Heidi

Is there anything more wonderful than taking a shower after a long day and letting the warm water run over your skin, especially with a refreshing scent of flowers?

So it was clear that the Heidi natural soap also belongs in
this set.

Arolla Pine Room Fragrance

Queen of the Alps

Sleeping like a marmot? The Arolla pine room fragrance helps with that. With the scent of the mountains, your mom will sleep like a marmot. The refreshing Arolla pine wood creates a cozy, calming atmosphere.

Little secret, shh...

Muttertagsgeschenk

I wasn't going to tell you yet, but there's a little surprise hidden in the gift box...

The Mother's Day gift should be something special.

Did you know? The edelweiss symbolizes courage,
bravery, love, loyalty, and steadfastness.

That's exactly why I included the edelweiss as a small surprise in the set. It symbolizes gratitude, precisely what I want to convey with this set.

Set put together – what now?

After assembling my set, that's when things really took off. Once I received approval for the set, it was on to setting the price, informing all departments about their tasks, writing newsletters, recording the product on the website, creating discount codes, writing newsletters, and now developing a blog about the entire project.

I poured my heart and soul into developing my own product set, from the initial idea and overcoming challenges, all the way to its final implementation and marketing.

Experience

Through this marketing project, I learned a great deal. Above all, I realized how many steps and how many departments are needed to create a new product set.

For a set to be successfully implemented, it requires:

- production, which needs to be informed so that the goods are ready at the right time

- an idea and appropriate planning

- approval from management

- sales, to clarify if and how the set can be offered

- the marketing team for newsletters and social media

- the office for administrative tasks and invoices

- shipping for packaging and delivery

- as well as the shop team that sells the sets

Since so many departments are involved, good communication is particularly important. For me, it was very exciting to see how much organization is behind a seemingly small project.

Thank you!

Thanks to the team!

I would like to thank everyone who supported me in this project and helped me out when I was stuck. This help was invaluable to me!

Thank you!

I hope I was able to give you an exciting insight into my project and show you how much work and passion went into this set. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.
