Our own Easter story

When the Easter Bunny gets involved in the factory

How a small mishap led to the creation of the limited special edition of our Edelweiss hand balm.

A Monday like any other - almost...

It was a completely normal start to the week in our factory.

Our employee prepared everything with her usual care for the production of our popular Edelweiss hand balm: rapeseed oil, grape seed oil, wheat germ oil, Bernese Oberland beeswax, mountain houseleek, Kandertal spruce resin, essential oils – and, of course, our own Edelweiss extract.

All raw materials were provided, weighed and carefully processed by hand.

Production went like clockwork – right up until the last step…

Oh dear!

But then, toward the end of the filling process, a shock comes. The pot is empty. But there are still many empty cans waiting to be filled.

The amount produced should actually exactly match the number of cans prepared. But on this day, it doesn't work.

What happened? Did someone miscalculate? Is something missing? A quick look at the ingredients list quickly reveals the answer:
The lanolin is missing!

Disappeared without a trace – or hidden by the Easter Bunny?

Although our colleague worked with great care, she missed the lanolin – a natural raw material that gives the hand balm its particularly creamy consistency.

Was it really an accident? Or maybe the Easter Bunny hid the lanolin – instead of colorful eggs? 🐰

Throw away?

Not an option for us

A brief hesitation. Should we blame the Easter Bunny and throw everything away? Impossible!

The precious ingredients and the many hours of careful work – that would be a pure waste. So: make the most of it.

The balm is different than planned, but still full of valuable care ingredients.

Use instead of waste

True to the motto “use instead of waste,” we decided not to simply throw away this Edelweiss hand balm, but to pass it on to you as a special edition.

Special Edition

This is how a small, fine and limited special edition of our Edelweiss hand balm was unexpectedly created.

A little lighter, less creamy—but still wonderfully nourishing, moisturizing, and full of natural power. A kind of "Edelweiss Hand Balm Light," as we jokingly call it. 😅

What exactly is lanolin?

Lanolin – also known as wool grease – is a secretion from the sebaceous glands of sheep. It forms a protective film over the wool fibers, protecting the animals from cold, wetness, and dirt.

Since it is a by-product of wool production, lanolin is produced after sheep shearing: When the wool is washed, the fat gets into the wash water and is filtered out using special processes.

Thanks to its firm consistency and nourishing properties, lanolin is often used in ointments and natural cosmetics. It serves not only as a nourishing ingredient but also as a natural emulsifier, combining water and oil—ideal for rich creams.
