zinc oxide
Zinc oxide has always been an effective ingredient in wound healing creams. Thanks to its wide range of applications, it has also received attention in cosmetics. And for good reasons. In this blog post, you will find out what properties zinc oxide has, how it works and why we use it in our deodorant creams.
What is zinc oxide?
Admittedly, it sounds like chemistry class when we say the word “ zinc oxide”.
Basically, it is nothing more than a naturally occurring chemical compound that consists of zinc and oxygen. Zinc oxide is a white, fine, non-toxic powder. In nature, it occurs in the form of the mineral zincite . Zinc oxide is extracted from it using a complex process.

Use of zinc oxide
Zinc oxide has always been an integral component in cosmetics production. It is a real all-rounder, especially in skin care. It is used as a natural raw material to care for and protect sensitive, irritated and even injured skin. It is therefore found in skin care and protective creams, sunscreens and decorative cosmetics.
Sun protection
Zinc oxide is used in sunscreens as a physical UV filter to protect the skin from harmful rays. Compared to some chemical sunscreens, zinc oxide is also suitable for sensitive skin and is less likely to cause irritation.
Skin care
Zinc oxide can have a soothing effect on the skin and support its natural healing process. Its drying properties are particularly beneficial for the care of sensitive baby skin. Zinc oxide is also used in powders and face creams for oily skin and to treat razor burn.
Zinc oxide also inhibits the growth of microorganisms. This makes it particularly interesting in the production of deodorant cream . We use zinc oxide in our handmade Swiss deodorant cream.

Zinc oxide and the puralpina deodorant cream
You already know that zinc oxide is antibacterial, neutralizes odors and relieves razor burn. But to make an effective deodorant cream, you need more than just zinc oxide.
Did you know that fresh sweat is odorless ? The unpleasant smell only occurs when bacteria break down the sweat on our skin.
This is exactly where our deodorant cream comes in: with the bacteria. Our deodorant cream makes life difficult for the bacteria. Zinc oxide, combined with baking soda, healing clay and corn starch form a strong team against unpleasant sweat odor.
Sodium bicarbonate , also known as sodium bicarbonate, has an alkaline effect and neutralizes odors. By changing the pH value, it inhibits the activity of odor-producing bacteria. It absorbs moisture and binds sweat. These properties are supported by healing clay and corn starch.
Our deodorant cream combats unpleasant body odor without suppressing your natural sweating. The pores are not closed and the natural regulating skin function is maintained.
